Specification

 Many types of solid materials must be ground or milled into finer particles for dispersion in appropriate liquid vehicles. The physical properties of the resulting dispersion, general called "grinds", depends not only on the actual size of the individual particles, but also on the degree to which they are dispersed.

The Fineness Gauges are used to indicate the fineness of grind or the presence of coarse particles or agglomerates in a dispersion. It does not determine particle size or particle size distribution.

Grind gauges are used in controlling the production, storage, and application of dispersion products produced by milling in the paint, plastic, pigment, printing ink , paper, ceramic, pharmaceutical, food and many other industries.

The Fineness Gauges is a flat steel block in the surface of which are one or two flat-bottomed grooves varying uniformly in depth from a maximum at one end of the block to zero near the other end. Groove depth is graduated on the block according to one or more scales used for measuring particle size.

It confirms the below standards: GB/T 1724, GB/T6753.1 ISO 1524. 

The fineness gauge is made of advanced wear-resisting anti-corrosive stainless steel, the blade is made from quality carbon steel, both are grinding.

Procedure:

1. Put the fineness gauge and blade dip in solvent,and dry with cotton cloth.

2. Fully mix the sample, which is conformed to the product's standard viscosity.

3. Place a slight excess of sample in the deep end of the groove,

4. With the straight-edge scraper provided, draw the sample toward the shallow end of the groove.

5. To make the sight 15-30 degree angle with the gauge plane, rating GU are in term of the point on the scale where the oversize particles, or furrows made by them, first appear in substantial concentration.

 

Maintenance:

1. Protect well the gauge and blade, avoid damage or deformation of the device, so as to avoid measurement errors

2. Keep cleaning after use and cover with some anti-rust oil.

3. When measuring high viscosity of the sample, should diluent the sample's viscosity then testing.

4. Check out the blade edge and the straightness of the gauge, if any damage is found,it should be corrected by the national verification agencies, then it can be used.
